About Us
Carolyn Bendall and Debra Norwood purchased Fashion
Academy in 2005. Carolyn had been an Image Consultant for Fashion Academy
since the mid-1990's when she met Gerrie Pinckney (co-founder). And Debra
is a friend of Carolyn's that is a lawyer, and in her first moment of
desperation of knowledge called Debra and said, "I'm going to buy Fashion
Academy, you have to tell me what to do!"
Up to that time Carolyn had appeared on 'Good Morning Memphis' and 'Live @
9' in Memphis several times. She has also been featured on television in
Jackson TN. Her expert opinion has been sought for by Memphis's newspaper,
The Commercial Appeal and by the Washington Post. She has written for
Memphis Woman magazine and Southern Women Magazine. She has produced
fashion shows for the Southern Women's Show and the Memphis Woman's Expo.
Carolyn has brought together an elite group of people to work within Fashion
Academy. Together they have brought Fashion Academy's Colour Analysis to
the American Board of Certified Hair Colorists and Premier Pigments
Intradermal Cosmetics Expo.
Fashion Academy has stepped into a new age of Color Analysis and training,
incorporating Webinars into the traditional training Fashion Academy has
been known for for over thirty years. Carolyn has started a weekly email
newsletter that lets subscribers know the latest trends, and with her humor
she attacks ridiculous acts of fashion.
Fashion Academy has expanded into the Fashion Academy Network which includes
networking meetings for fashion and beauty industry professionals and
classes on how to shop for the overly informed confused consumer.
Fashion Academy enjoys a wonderful marketing relationship with many
companies, including, DiVa Colour Studio, L.R. Clothier, Oscar de la Renta
fragrances, American Board of Certified Haircolorists, Premier Pigments, and
The Brow Gal.
